JAKARTA: Pondok Indah residents will resubmit their class action lawsuit on the construction of busway lanes, to South Jakarta District Court with an Environmental Impact Analysis document requested by the court.

On Feb. 26, the judges told the plaintiffs to first complete the documents before the court could continue the trial.

"The lawsuit was not rejected, but was returned because it did not have the necessary documents. We will continue the legal process. There has been no reconciliation as yet," Pondok Indah residents' head Louis M. Pakaila said, as quoted by Detik.com.

An environmental impact analysis is a mandatory report, made prior to undertaking construction work. For the Pondok Indah busway corridor construction, the analysis was made by the city's Environmental Management Board.

The construction work on Corridor 8 (Lebak Bulus-Harmoni) passing through Jl. Metro Pondok Indah, has been completed and is now waiting for the completion of its busway stops.

Residents have claimed the work has had a bad impact on their neighborhood.

Due to the project, more than 500 palm trees were removed, they say.- JP
