ULELENG: Fourteen residents of Lokapaksa village, Siririt, were receiving medical treatment after allegedly consuming poisoned fish on Wednesday.

Locals said the victims had started vomiting and had suffered stomach aches and headaches.

The victims, who all came from one extended family, were admitted to Buleleng General Hospital and Wijaya Kusuma Clinic where they will remain until the weekend.

One of the victims, identified as Made Arya Swarjana, 24, said the poisoning was caused by fish that was bought cheaply by relatives at a nearby market.

Some of the fish had been fried and the others were cooked with vegetables, Made said, adding that soon after consuming them, they had vomited. -- JP
