AKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Health Ministry's procurement bureau head Murdiono as a graft suspect in a 2007 X-ray procurement project.

"We have named Murdiono as a suspect in the procurement of medical equipment for the Health Ministry in 2007," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said Monday.

He added the commission had questioned four other ministry officials - Lita Rahmalia, Tri Hariandito, Johannes Glen Nikijulu and Jehezkiel Panjaitan - on Monday in relation to the case.

KPK deputy chairman for prevention M. Jasin said the antigraft body had found price markups in the Rp 190.5 billion (US$15.9 million) project, which caused alleged state loses of Rp 71 billion.

Besides the 2007 case, the KPK is also probing a similar case in a 2005 procurement project at the same ministry.
