There is a scene in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button where Cate Blanchett's character looks at Brad Pitt and says, "You're perfect." The irony is overwhelming. ,
And while this film looks great, it is thoroughly underwhelming. Director David Fincher, who is best-known for dark, stylish films like Zodiac, Fight Club, and Se7en, seems out of his comfort zone here. While Benjamin Button is extraordinarily cinematic - richly visual, impressive CGI - it doesn't deliver. | Thu, 02/26/2009 1:58 PM
The plot involves Pitt as Benjamin Button, who is born on Armistice Day 1918 in New Orleans, aged 86. Button then ages backward for the rest of his life.
The title and premise of the movie come from a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, but little else is kept from the text. The director manages to turn what was a comic short story into an epic and dull film, which runs just shy of three hours.

This review is really harsh. I watched the film with a couple of friends and, even though we are probably younger than the person who wrote this article, we still enjoyed the movie.
There was nothing as dull or as boring as this critique seemed to claim . and I am not saying this because the movie has Brad Pitt in it. He is not one of my favorites but I do believe he put in a lot of effort with this really complicated role.
Cate Blanchett is marvelous as ever and she looks beautiful throughout the various aging processes in the movie.
The other characters in the movie also deserve credit as they touch your soul.
The captain of the tug boat was one such character. It is however true that the movie is rather long and the editing could have been tighter, but nevertheless it still is a major Oscar contender.

I am utterly amazed at how anybody could write a negative review of this spectacular movie. From the very beginning, this movie left me in a trance, and I did not want it to end. Pitt played his character flawlessly, and everything seemed very plausible.
Usually after watching a movie with such a fictional plot, I doubt every event throughout the movie, but with Benjamin Button, this wasn't the case. The movie left me with the idea that aging backwards is possible. (Of course that's nonsense, but the movie made it seem very possible) Overall, I truly consider Benjamin Button the best movie of 2008.

I agree. The movie is very cliched. I like Brad Pitt; let's admit he does have charisma.
But that's about it. He will never be a good actor; he just doesn't understand his characters.
I think he just tries to be them, which doesn't work very well. It is very rare to see an actor delivering amazing work.
It is one in a million! I just saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona. It is amazing! Go Woody! Now you know why I can't appreciate Benjamin Button!

Where is the credibility in this review? How is it that someone in the movie critic business can get it so wrong?
This movie was nominated for 13 Academy Awards.
Doesn't it make you want to go "hmmm?" Ridiculous review! Art evokes thought, and this movie is a masterpiece.

This movie is spectacular! Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett did a wonderful job but I have to recognize Taraji P. Henson for the wonderful role she played as well.
If you have not seen this film, I encourage you to go see one of the best movies of 2008. This film does not "look great", it is great!
