AKARTA: Vendors from Blok M's JS 20 Melawai, South Jakarta, asked a number of malls nearby to make room for them. They said that according to a 2002 bylaw, malls were required to set aside 20 percent of their space for small business owners.
The vendors found themselves homeless when the municipality of South Jakarta decided to stop providing temporary space for them. The vendors said since losing their space at JS 20, they had not managed to find a new place to run their businesses.
