Your opinion on the mayor of Depok recently revoked the building permit for the planned Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) church in Depok.

It shows us that our leaders and people are still far from the spirit of tolerance. We are still childish and full of suspicion toward others.

How beautiful would be if Indonesia as a big garden would let every flower bloom. Or would we prefer to see a desert with a boring panorama?

No colorful flora and fauna!

I think this is a human rights violation.

Why can't we just let people with other religions live and practice their religions and mind more important matters such as fighting crime and providing education, and health care.

If this is action is solely based on hatred against another religion, it would be really a step backward for this nation.

Further efforts need to be done so that the freedom to practice religion will be assured by the government.

Indonesia is based on pluralism and you can see this in the daily lives of the Indonesian people. I cannot understand why a local government took this kind of action.

He has done an unlawful act because his action is in contradiction with the principle of the Pancasila state ideology and the freedom of religion which is guaranteed by the constitution and human rights law.

It is against the principles of democracy and it is against the Indonesian Constitution.

Even in the West, where most people are non-Muslim, building mosques for worshipers is allowed.

I am sure the mayor of Depok has a reason why not to let the church construction go on. It would be nice if he had an open letter or somebody please posted the letter here.

I am sure he has other solutions instead of just not letting the construction go ahead.

I am sure he knows that Indonesia under Pancasila guarantees freedom to embrace religion.

I am sure the mayor knows the effect on society if he doesn't let the church construction continue.

I am sure the mayor cannot stop people from worshiping. I am sure he knows Indonesia has many religions.

So, Mayor be discreet, otherwise it will not be good for you and for your people.

This is one of human rights principles to pray to God!

What kind of religion can not respect other religions as well as its self?

What kind of human, can not understand those next to him?

What kind of law can not regulate its citizens?

What kind of nation can not protect its believers?

It is a human right to serve their God. The major should know this.

I think the mayor should read the Constitution and Pancasila state ideology.

Why is it okay for Muslims to pray to God, but not Christians, Jews or Ahmadiyah Muslims? They pray to the same God.
