JAKARTA: Newly appointed One Man One Tree ambassador Asti Ananta will focus her efforts on teaching children to love plants from an early age, in a bid to effect real change for the environment.
“When I was a child, I was privileged to have a family that showed me what gardens are like,” Asti said, as quoted by entertainment website kapanlagi.com, during a recent environmental campaign at the Bundaran HI.
One Man One Tree is a campaign by the Forestry Ministry to fight global warming on the home front.
Living in a dense metropolis should be no reason to stop trying to create a greener environment, as Asti demonstrated that even in a small plot of land, people can still build their own mini-garden.
“It is amazing that people can still plant in small pots or used drums and hang them in front of their houses,” Asti said, pointing out an example of the “green” image she spotted in Kebon Kacang, Central Jakarta.
For the soap opera actress turned TV host, there is no use pointing fingers at who is responsible for the environmental damage that the earth has suffered.
“It is more important to act. One man plants one tree.” — JP
