The Manohara case really disgusts me but it serves as an excellent example to all women with beautiful daughters that money and a royal title does not automatically guarantee happiness. Just look at the Princess Diana tragedy.

When will young women learn not to be blinded by money and titles because occasionally it really does not bring the fairy-tale happiness that many women crave? Blaming the Indonesian Embassy staff in Kuala Lumpur is not right.

Indeed, all individuals will turn to their respective embassies in time of need but it does not mean that the embassy will automatically lend a helping hand. Many embassies are already snowed under with problematic issues caused by their citizens. For four years I have lived in Latin America i.e. Bolivia, where there is no Indonesian Embassy.

I had to turn to the Indonesian Embassies in Buenos Aires and Brasilia for assistance and they have always supported and helped me, by issuing me a new passport within 24 hours or extending the duration of the current one.

Thumbs up to these two embassies. I do not have marriage problems; moreover, the embassy is not a marriage counselor in the first place.

If violence occurs within a marriage, many embassies do not want to get their fingers burned; they will tell all parties concerned that they should settle their domestic problems amiably and peacefully. Even the police are reluctant to interfere in a marriage gone sour.

They will ultimately advise you to get a lawyer and start divorce proceedings.

Only ignorant people think that money and a royal husband will automatically elevate them into the realms of the happy, rich and royal circle. When the opposite occurs and people do not get what they hoped for, they will resort to airing their dirty linen as a way out.

Manohara should really thank the Singapore Police and other parties involved for a successful escape. Now all TV channels in Indonesia will fight for the right to make a soap opera out of this repugnant case.
