AKARTA: The Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD) will from Sunday begin taking down all presidential campaign material in the city, an official said Friday.
"Taking down the material is actually the responsibility of the candidates' campaign teams. But they usually don't bother," Dahlia Umar, KPUD campaign task group chairwoman, told The Jakarta Post.
She added the KPUD might seek the help of the public order office if it found itself not managing.
"It will be most difficult to clear away stickers from the main thoroughfares and banners over roads and electricity poles," she said.
Regulations state the city must be clear of all campaign material a day before the election, but the KPUD will start earlier, at the beginning of the cooling-down period.
"We want the city clean by July 7," Dahlia said.
