ALIKPAPAN: Kanudjoso Djatiwibowo public hospital in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, is currently treating an H1N1 suspect who visited countries affected by the pandemic prior to arriving in Indonesia.
The hospital identifies the patient as RH, a 26-year old American citizen, who is now being treated at Karamunting isolation room.
RH had visited Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore before arriving in Jakarta and then Balikpapan.
"RH was referred by Ibu Restu Hospital and was suffering from fever, cough and flu when he arrived here. The doctor then named RH as an H1N1 suspect," M. Syafa Hanung, Head of the hospital, told The Jakarta Post on Monday.
Head of East Kalimantan's Health Agency Sutarnyoto said RH was the first H1N1 suspect in the province, which had declared an alert status two weeks ago.
