In March 1978, Elvis Costello & the Attractions' classic debut My Aim Is True was already out, and the even more of a classic follow-up This Year's Model was just about to hit the airwaves. Costello geeks already know about Live at the El Mocambo, the live recording of the Attractions' March 6, 1978 Toronto show. The show was broadcast live on a Canadian radio station and released in a very limited promotional pressing, which was subsequently bootlegged many times over. In 1993, it was included as a bonus disc on the Costello box set 2 1/2 Years, which collected the near-perfect first three Costello albums. And on Sept. 29, Live at the El Mocambo will finally see wide release, viaHip-O/UMe. Live at the El Mocambo, which includes songs from My Aim Is True and This Year's Model, is the first installment in The Costello Show, a series of live Costello albums that will be released over the course of the coming year. In other news, the first season of "Spectacle", Costello's Sundance Channel music-and-talk show, is now available from iTunes.

Dance-punk/New Wave act The Bravery have announced the release of their third album. The follow-up to 2007's The Sun And The Moon is scheduled to come out Nov. 10. The as-yet untitled album will be preceded by the single *Slow Poison', and was produced by John Hill who's previously worked with Santigold and MIA. The band will hit the road on a headlining tour in support of the record, kicking off Sept. 18 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Should be interesting.

And now, for the "what in God's name makes them think this is a good idea?" news item of the week: The Beatles-based 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine is set to be re-made as a 3D film. Disney are preparing to make the new project along with Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis - who is planning to utilize the same technology used in his forthcoming 3D film A Christmas Carol, reports Variety. Disney hope to have the film ready to air by summer 2012, with Zemeckis clearing access to songs by The Beatles to use in the film. The Beatles did not directly contribute to the making of the original *Yellow Submarine' film, with actors providing the voices of their characters. Think Polar Express with better music. Scary huh?

Jazz chanteuse Norah Jones has announced that her fourth studio album will be released in November. The singer-songwriter has been working on the record for the past two years, and collaborated with Ryan Adams, Jesse Harris and Okkervil River's Will Sheff. The album was produced by Jacquire King. King's previous production and engineering experience includes work with Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits and Modest Mouse. The velvet songstress says she has tried some "different things" on the album, including a new band. She said: "I'd been playing with the same musicians for a long time. We're all still friendly and I hope we play together again, but it felt like a good time to work with new people and experiment with different sounds." King helped Jones find new musicians to play on the album, and these include drummer Joey Waronker, who's previously played with Beck and REM, Erykah Badu and Al Green keyboardist James Poyser and guitarist Marc Ribot, who's previously worked with Tom Waits and Elvis Costello. A release date and tracklisting will be announced soon.

During his tenure at Columbia Records, Miles Davis recorded a jaw-dropping 52 albums. Pretty soon, you'll be able to own ALL OF THEM (!!!) in one gigantic box that will probably be heavy enough to kill someone and cool enough to kill for. On Nov. 10, Columbia/Legacy will release The Complete Columbia Album Collection. The box will include (seriously) 70 CDs and one DVD, and somehow it's that one DVD that makes the whole thing look like overkill.

The DVD is Live in Europe *67, which will be on DVD for the first time ever with this set. The set will also include a previously unreleased live recording of Davis's performance at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. According to Legacy, the CDs will all come in "Japanese-styled mini LP jackets", which sounds cool. The CDs will include bonus tracks that have been tacked on to Davis reissues over the years. There will also be a 250-page book. The whole massive brick of a thing will be available exclusively from Amazon, and it'll run you US$369.98, which is kind of a bargain. That's about Rp 50.000! Cheap, considering a single Davis CD usually costs upwards of Rp 150.000 here. I'll be adding this to my Christmas wish list

That about wraps it up for this week's Reverb. Stay tuned next week!

Meanwhile, do drop me a line at undergroundhum@yahoo.com and if you've got a band or know of any cool bands with gigs coming up, email me the full details and I'll be sure to include it in the next Reverb.

See y'all next week!
