AKARTA: Sidewalk vendors around Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, complained on Thursday about decreasing revenues since their operating hours were reduced by Central Jakarta municipality administration.
According to a recent policy introduced by the administration, vendors are only allowed to trade after 4 p.m., and are forbidden from trading from morning to noon.
The reduced operating hours had caused their incomes to drop, vendors said.
Public order officers had warned that they would take action against anyone caught breaching the policy, vendors said.
Tanah Abang district head Edi Supriadi said the policy was introduced to improve access for goods and traffic.
