ritical cognitive skills, multicultural communication skills and computer competencies are some of the criteria today's teachers must fulfill. According to Kenneth Cock (the Post, Aug. 11, 2009), an ideal teacher prepared for the modern globalized world must possess at least three critical skill sets: the understanding of international perspectives and cross-cultural differences; up-to-date teaching methods enhanced with leading-edge technology; and the ability to develop leadership and critical thinking skills, character and moral values in students.

Okay... Reading is a good activity. Through reading we can get information all over the world, anywhere and anytime. But our problem is that reading hasn't become part of culture. Many people prefer ngrumpi (chatting) to reading. How is this solving the problem?
I hope the Internet can reach citizens all over Indonesia.

The Internet and computer use has given people access to vast amounts of information and knowledge like never before. It is encouraging that computers are being used more widely in schools as undoubtedly the youth of today will be growing up in a far more technically evolving world. The ever emerging applications such as eBooks should be embraced as far as possible to prepare our children not only in the fundamentals of learning to read but to understand how to use the available information wisely.

Give me a moment... A *Hoo-ah!' moment--Aug. 19, p. 7
I'm in dire need of a "Hoo-ah!" moment. What's a "Hoo-ah!" moment? According to Wikipedia, "Hoo-ah!" is a US Army battle cry "referring to or meaning anything and everything except *no'."
Other popular usages of the word include, among others: "Good", "Great", "All right!", "Amen" and "Outstanding".
Its legacy in pop culture was cemented by Al Pacino's Oscar-winning performance in Scent of a Woman. To me, "Hoo-ah!" is pretty much the same thing as "Hell yeah!" An uninhibited ejaculation of joy.

I really agree with you, Ralph. But even if things are bad, like now, it doesn't mean we can't create our own "Hoo-ah!" moment. "Hoo-ah!" is up to us, ourselves. The "Indonesia Unite" movement is a good example of this.

Good comment, Ralph. It is refreshing to read the personal feelings of a prominent television presenter, one who is fluent in both English and his original language. Ralph, as a presenter on Metro TV, needs to stick to or by the script (no doubt as dictated by the editor), so now we can read his true feelings about a well-covered news event.
Ralph, your work on Metro is wonderful; you really hold the half-hour English news program together. However, despite all your good work, it is unfortunate that technical errors always seem to pop up on Metro This Morning.
