EKANBARU: Police are investigating possible human trafficking in the case of dozens of Madurese people who were rounded up recently in Pekanbaru, Riau, on their way to Malaysia for work.
Riau Police chief Brig. Gen. Adjie Rustam Ramdja said Sunday that based on testimonies from some of the arrested illegal migrant workers, there was a strong indication that they were being trafficked to Malaysia by a syndicate.
