JAKARTA: A true actress goes the extra mile, people in the silver screen industry say.
And young actress Alexandra Gottardo has proven she’s willing to earn her title by experiencing life in East Nusa Tenggara kampung before shooting her latest movie.
“I’m eating what they’re eating and sleeping where they’re sleeping, which means eating the same thing every day and sleeping on a dirty floor,” said the 24-year-old actress who plays a Timorese woman in Ari Sihasale’s latest work Tanah Air Beta (My Homeland).
Besides experiencing life in Belu regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Alexandra has had to put up with the sun and tan her previously white silky skin.
“I’m playing the role of a Timorese woman, so I have to look like one too,” she said.
To blend into her role, Alexandra brought tanning oil with her. Under the scorching heat of the sun, in the Eastern part of Indonesia, she laid down on the bed of sand in Belu Beach.
“A week before shooting, I actually had the perfect tan. But, as most of the filming is happening indoors, my skin is getting lighter. I need to sunbathe regularly.”
