JAKARTA: City Parks and Cemetery Agency said Friday it had spent Rp 600 million on the renovation of Suropati Park in Menteng, Central Jakarta.
Agency chief Ery Basworo said the money had been used to replace damaged flower beds, decorated lamps and a fountain.
Central Jakarta Mayor Sylviana Murni said she would keep the park free of street vendors and homeless people.
"Their presence tarnishes the park's beauty and thus discourages people to use it," Sylviana said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Menteng subdistrict chief Efri called on visitors to help look after the park by not treading on the grass or vandalizing its property.
The agency also plans to add new bird cages to the park. - JP
