he new 30-day visa-on-arrival at US$25, extendable by another 30 days, should indeed be lauded as a first step in the right direction to entice more foreign tourists to visit Indonesia.
It is doubtful however, that the new policy will result in less graft among immigration staff, as corruption seems to be so ingrained there, that it would take a lot more than merely a different visa scheme to root out, or at least lessen, this evil.
And it will certainly take many more measures at all levels and in various sectors, not just in immigration, to improve Indonesia's tourist industry.
