gas cylinder exploded in a house in South Denpasar on Saturday, injuring four people and damaging the house.
The explosion occurred at around 11:30 a.m. in a house on Jalan Sesetan and was heard 200 meters away. It also caused damage to a small adjacent restaurant and a mobile phone shop.
The injured were identified as the house owner Wayan Darnata, mobile phone shop owner Heri, shop customer Mujiharto and restaurant customer Putu Juliani.
They were rushed to Sanglah Hospital.
No fatalities were reported in the explosion, which is estimated to have caused losses amounting to hundreds of millions.
Eyewitness Hartanto, a foreman at a nearby construction site, said there were two explosions.
"I was at the back of my house monitoring the construction when I heard two explosions. The ground was shaking," he said.
"When I came upon the scene, the house was damaged and I smelled gas."
The South Denpasar Police said the incident was caused by an explosion of 12-kilogram gas canister.
"We are still investigating the cause of the explosion. We have also asked the Denpasar Police identification team to assist in our investigation," South Denpasar Police chief Adj. Comr. Gede Ganefo said.
