MEDAN, North Sumatra: North Sumatra legislators have found evidence of irregularities in the province's recent power blackouts.
The evidence is said, among others, to be the alleged use of diesel instead of gas for power generators.
The findings were disclosed by legislative deputy speaker Chaidir Ritonga on Monday after receiving survey results from the team assigned to investigate the incident.
Chaidir said the power outages were believed to be related to the quality of fuel fed to the generators.
The fuel for the generators should have been replaced with gas instead of diesel fuel, he said.
"The replacement of diesel instead of gas has caused the generators to fail to produce maximum power, but power capacity has decreased to almost 15 percent." - JP
