ribes and illegal fees are still rampant in correctional facilities across the country, especially in big cities, an official said Saturday.

Justice and Human Rights Ministry director general for correctional institutions Untung Sugiyono said in Kapuas, Central Kalimantan, that the ministry would take firm action against those who demanded illegal fees and those who provided them.

He added that the ministry had also made available suggestion boxes in each prison block. He said it also collected reports and complaints from the public and monitoring institutions.

“We are trying hard to address the situation because we have been accused of neglecting it,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
