Just as the above quote suggests, coaching is not only for the under-trained or the under-empowered: in fact, many of us could benefit from professional coaching in order to improve various aspects of our life and work.
The Professional Women of Britcham, which was launched this May, serves as an ideal platform for motivating and inspiring each other as well as for networking. The group is the brainchild of Anita Fenton of Britcham, Mariko Yoshihara of JAC Recruitment and Cynthia Wihardja of ActionCOACH.
Meeting on every first Tuesday of the month, the group's inaugural gathering on May 4 featured a workshop with the theme "What we have and they don't" by Cynthia Wihardja.
The workshop was a "wonderful success" with nearly 70 female participants. "Everyone left the event feeling charged and ready to conquer the world," said JAC associate consultant Sony Jethnani, who helped organize the event.
This coming month, Professional Women of BritCham will be back with a meeting held in association with JAC Recruitment, ActionCOACH and MAC team. Held on June 1 from 4 to 6 p.m., the event venue is yet to be announced but will focus on "the value and worth of being a woman," as revealed by Sony in early May.
Participants will be expected to set aside a Rp100,000 fee in cash per person per event. For details of event programs, suggestions and improvements, feel free to contact 522 9453 or email events@britcham.or.id For those eager to master the art of Epicureanism and culinary, Jakarta is also laden with cooking classes held at community clubs, malls and even top-rate hotels.
On May 29, The Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta is inviting discerning clientele to gather a group of friends for a special pasta cooking class with resident Italian Chef Mariano Liuzza.
The class will teach food enthusiasts the recipes and techniques for making fresh homemade pasta such as tagliatelle, ravioli and tortellini. It starts at 10 a.m. at Lobo, where learning is "both fun and filling."
Join the class and receive an elegant lunch, certificate and souvenir for Rp 410,000++ per person or Rp 398,000++ for Loyalty Membership Cardholders.
Whatever new skills or ways of life we choose to learn, just remember that the capital offers it all on a platter - provided we know where to look!
