MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: A mob of students smashed windows at Gunungsari University campus on Monday.
Witnesses said a group of Gunungsari students armed with golf clubs, machetes and lengths of wood searched for an individual in retaliation for an attack on one of their classmates.
When they did not find who they were looking for they vented their anger on other students, triggering clashes.
Windows and offices, including the student association headquarters, were set upon by the mob.
"We have met to mediate the issues. I have no idea why they have clashed again today," rector Aris Munandar said. - JP
