AKARTA: A student from University of Indonesia (UI) has won the National Best University Student Contest held by the National Education Ministry, beating dozens of participants from other universities across the country, UI spokesman said Friday.
Tantia Dian Permata, from the university's Schools of Economics, took the title on Thursday night after collecting the highest mark among finalists from nine different universities.
"We are proud to have more and more students who prove their competitiveness in both national and international levels," UI spokesman Vishnu Juwono said.
The annual contest challenges the best students from all state and private universities in the country to display their academic, leadership and professional competences.
Aside from presenting a scientific-based, practical paper, each participating student must prove outstanding track record and achievements in extracurricular activities and English proficiency and pass a specially-designed psychological test. - JP
