AKARTA: The North Jakarta Police on Wednesday arrested a mother, Tiah, on an allegation, in which she had beaten her own baby to death.
The 15-month baby was found dead with wounds to her back, face, left thigh and genitals in her house on Jl. Pesanggrahan, Pademangan, in North Jakarta. The police were still waiting for the official autopsy report from the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
“We received a report from the neighborhood chief, Eforus. He told us that a baby had been beaten to death by her mother, but we are still investigating the allegation,” the Pademangan Police’s crime unit chief, Second Insp. Suseno, told reporters.
According to witnesses, the mother often hit her four children. However, Tiah’s husband denied that his wife had beaten the baby to death, saying the baby was sick. — JP
