AKARTA: A search-and-rescue team will evacuate the body of an unidentified man from Mount Gede-Pangrango National Park in Bogor on Tuesday, says a representative.
“A search-and-rescue team found the body during a search for two mountaineers from the University of Indonesia [UI] who went missing on Thursday,” Mt. Gede Parangro National Park head Sumarto said Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Sumarto said that the team had not yet identified the body, which was found while searching for the UI climbers about one hour’s drive from the park’s Balaikambang post in Cisarua.
“We have not yet identified whether he was a climber or a local villager,” Sumarto said, adding that if the man was a climber, then he had been climbing illegally as he did not report his ascent to any post in the National Park. — JP
