AKARTA: State electricity firm PT PLN has secured a gas supply of 400 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) from PT Nusantara Regas, a subsidiary of state gas distributor PT PGN and state oil producer PT Pertamina.
The gas will be supplied for the add-on gas-and-coal-fired power plant (PLTGU) Muara Karang in North Jakarta.
PLN president director Dahlan Iskan said Tuesday that the gas price was set at US$10 per million British thermal units of gas per day (MMBTU) assuming the world’s oil price was $70 per barrel.
“We can save Rp 2 trillion [US$223.65 million] annually,” he said.
Although the contract will be signed this year, the gas will be supplied to PLTGU Muara Karang starting on Dec. 12, 2011.
For the first phase, Nusantara Regas will provide 150 MMSCFD to PLN. — JP
