AKARTA: Starting next week, all express trains plying Greater Jakarta routes will stop at all railway stations to serve more passengers.
The new policy should ease crowded train stations, which in turn could reduce crime, spokesperson of state railway company PT KAI operational region I Mateta Rizalulhaq said.
Mateta added that the new policy would allow more people to choose railway services from any station in Greater Jakarta.
“We have not decided on the ticket price. It could increase or otherwise,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The new policy would extend trip times for some express trains.
“For instance, for the Pakuan express commuter train from Bogor there will be an additional 26 minutes, making the trip 81 minutes long. For Bekasi express, the travel time will be 45 minutes, up from 35 minutes,” he said.
Given its short distance, there will be no additional time for express trains serving the Serpong-Tanah Abang route, he said. — JP
