AKARTA: The Blue Bird Group says it will launch a taxi reservation application for Blackberry smartphones in August to provide easier service access for customers.
Company spokesman Teguh Wijayanto said that the application would enable customers to reserve taxis, know the serial numbers of the reserved taxis and identify their whereabouts through their BlackBerry smartphones.
“We will launch the application in August at the latest. We want to provide an easier way for customers to reserve our taxis,” he said in a press statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
Teguh said that a beta version of the application, called the Blue Bird Group Taxi Reservation for BlackBerry, was being tested by BlackBerry users.
In the future, he said, the company also planned to develop reservation applications for smartphones produced by other phone makers.
The Blue Bird Group currently operates around 20,000 taxis in many major cities in the country, including Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Lombok, Semarang, Surabaya, Manado and Medan.
