University student Sondang Hutagalung, who apparently burned himself alive in front of the Merdeka State Palace on Dec. 7, died after an intensive care team tended to his severe burn injuries at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Central Jakarta, on Saturday at around 5:50 p.m.

Your comments:

Hurting yourself with acts like sewing your mouth shut or burning yourself can improve other people’s lives. I must have missed that on Discovery Channel.

Our thoughts are with you Sondang Hutagalung.

You had the courage to do something that you believed in and that’s more than others do.
Ari

It’s very unfortunate that his act does not give a clear message to most people.

Was there really no other way for this poor student to express his feelings other than burning himself
to death?
