Bengkulu: The Bengkulu office of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that Bengkulu waters will experience 4-meter-high waves, posing a serious threat to fishermen and sea transportation.

The highest waves may occur in Enggano waters, followed by West Bengkulu where waves could reach 3.5 meters high, a BMKG analyst of the Bengkulu Fatmawati Soekarno Meteorology Agency, Rosydidah, said on Sunday.

She said waves in Bengkulu in the last three days had reached a height of 3.5 to 4 meters, while winds in the area had an average speed of more than 20 knots. Bengkulu waters may experience winds from the west to northeast at a speed of 5-22 knots, while Enggano waters could see winds from the west to the north with a speed of 8-25 knots, antaranews.com reported.

The winds in the west part of the Indian Ocean in Bengkulu will come from the west to northwest at a speed of 10-25 knots, and mild rain may also fall in the area.
