UKOHARJO: As many as 126 employees of garment company CV Ultima Indonesia were reportedly sick with food poisoning on Tuesday evening after eating a company dinner.

“After eating they complained about having nausea, headache and some even vomited,” the company’s general affairs division head Jama’udin said on Wednesday.

The sick workers, who were among 150 employed by the company, were rushed to nearby Dr. Oen hospital.

The majority of them were allowed to go home later. Ten were taken to hospital, and eight of them were later discharged.

“Those [two] were too weak to go home. They still needed to be kept on the intravenous,” the hospital’s medical service division head, Yusup Tjandra, said.

The caterer that supplied the food was reported to have apologized to Ultima. It also said it would pay for the victims’ medical treatment.
