AKASSAR: Three government workers were killed by a flash flood in South Sulawesi. Fadli, Nurjihad and Sherli, were swept away by the flash flood while enjoying leisure time with colleagues at the Parangloe waterfall in Gowa, South Sulawesi.
Edo, a friend of the victims, said he was taking pictures of Fadli and Sherli, who were posing under the waterfall, when the flash flood suddenly swept them away. Nurjihad tried to save the two but was also dragged off by the strong current.
“It happened so abruptly. There was no sign of a flash flood coming,” said Edo, adding that he survived because he was holding on to a tree trunk.
The SAR team that arrived on site after the incident on Friday afternoon initially found only the body of Fadli after two hours of searching. The bodies of the other two victims were found the following morning.
