he National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested a suspected drug dealer, the most-wanted in seven countries, in a raid in West Jakarta on Monday.
'The suspect, identified as WCP, has been most-wanted in seven countries. We have been hunting him down for three years and at last we've arrested him,' said BNN deputy chief Brig. Gen. Dedi Fauzi.
Dedi said the suspect, who was wanted in Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, Macau, Myanmar and Indonesia, was arrested with nine others, including five foreigners, in a raid on a large shopping mall compound in Kalideres, West Jakarta.
He said WCP and the nine others belonged to a syndicate of methamphetamine, known as sabu-sabu, smugglers in Southeast Asia.
'This is the biggest arrest in Southeast Asia,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
During the raid, the agency confiscated 800 kilograms of sabu-sabu from a pickup vehicle.
Dedi said the agency would carry out a thorough investigation into the case to arrest the syndicate's other members. (rms)(++++)
