resident Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, who has been pushing for bureaucratic reform, warned his ministers on Wednesday that their work was constantly being monitored by the media.
Jokowi made the statement when opening a plenary Cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning to specifically discuss the National Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2015-2019 and the 2015 Government Work Plan (RKP).
'First, I would like to address the work of the Cabinet as it is portrayed by the media so that all [of you] realize that we are followed and assessed by the media.'
The President added that the media created perceptions of the government, although he also said that media exposure did not always reflect the government's performance.
'Media perceptions of the performances of the government, particularly in ministries, are based on [our] activities [...] There are activities, policies and steps taken by ministers and institutions that are later portrayed by the media from many angles and these create a perception,' he added.
Jokowi has been pushing for a 'mental revolution', while 'work, work and work' is a phrase he often uses. (***)
