he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned on Thursday South Tangerang mayor Airin Rachmi Diany as part of an investigation into a graft case relating to the procurement of medical equipment for public health centers in the municipality in 2012.

'€œAirin is being questioned as witness to the main suspect identified as DP,'€ KPK spokesperson Priharsa Nugraha said at the KPK building.

Airin, who arrived at the KPK building at 10:00 a.m., declined to comment on her questioning.

'€œAfter the questioning, I will comment. I want to visit bapak [Tubagus Chaeri Wardana[ before undergoing the questioning,'€ she said as quoted by Antara news agency.

Tubagus, popularly known as Wawan, has been detained at the KPK detention center since Oct. 2, 2013, in connection with bribes of Rp 1 billion paid to the former chairman of the Constitutional Court, Akil Muchtar, during the trial of the election conflict in Lebak regency.

Airin'€™s husband Wawan is a younger brother of former Banten governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah, who is serving a four-year prison sentence for bribing Akil. (***)(+++)
