Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama says a policy to limit old cars on city roads could be introduced in 2017.
'The restriction on old cars on Jakarta roads could possibly be imposed in 2017, especially if our public transportation facilities are adequate by then,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency on Thursday.
He said if the policy was introduced, cars using Jakarta roads should be less than 10 years old. 'If people want to use old cars, they can but they will have to bear the consequences. They will be required to pay higher taxes,' he said. (***)
