T

he Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has installed gas pipelines at the Manis Jaya low-cost apartment complex in Jatiluwung, Tangerang, to provide residents with a cheap source of energy, an official has said.

Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah said it was hoped that gas could also be distributed to other apartments, as it was affordable for many low-income families.

'€œWe also plan to require private developers to install the gas pipes as the use of gas is safe for the environment,'€ he said.

The Manis Jaya apartment complex consists of seven towers with a total of 350 units. The ministry will also install more gas pipelines in other low-cost apartments in other regions, such as Bogor, West Java. (cor/ebf)(++++)
