T

he Indonesia Survey Institute (LSI) has found that people are satisfied with the performance of President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo.

The survey, which was conducted last month, found that 55 percent of the 1,220 respondents were '€œquite satisfied'€ with the President'€™s performance in his first 100 days.

'€œ[...] 6.6 percent said they were very satisfied,'€ LSI director Kuskridho Ambhardi said at the pollster'€™s office in Jakarta on Monday, as quoted by detik.com.

About 22.9 percent said that they were '€œnot quite satisfied'€ with Jokowi, while 2.9 percent said that they were '€œdisappointed.'€

After a close presidential race in July, Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla formed an administration together with the four political parties that supported them in the election.

Considered lacking in political support, the early days of the new administration were marred by a power struggle between Jokowi'€™s supporting political parties, which is led by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

The administration, however, has undertaken some bold reforms, including adjusting fuel-prices. Jokowi has been heavily criticized for installing persons affiliated with parties in his coalition to strategic law enforcement posts, including Attorney General H.M. Prasetyo (NasDem Party), as well as his nomination of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan (PDI-P), a former adjutant of PDI-P chairperson and the country'€™s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, as National Police chief. (***)
