The five-a-side Standard Chartered Trophy Road to Anfield soccer tournament is returning to Indonesia this year, with the winner to be awarded a trip to Anfield, the home ground of English Premier League club Liverpool.
The fourth annual tournament is open to Standard Chartered's staff, clients and customers, as well as the local community and media, with the qualifying matches scheduled for March 7 and the semifinals and final for March 14, according to a press release.
The tournament was officially announced during a media conference on Monday by Standard Chartered chief executive officer for Indonesia Tse Koon Shee. Former national soccer star Yeyen Tumena and representative from BIGREDS, the official fan club of Liverpool in Indonesia, also attended the conference.
'We are very excited about this tournament coming alive again. Over the years, Standard Chartered has provided this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to all of our stakeholders including staff from our branches across the nation, our clients, customers and local community, as well as our partners from media houses,' Tse Koon Shee said.
The winning team is eligible to take part in the grand finals at Anfield on May 8, competing with teams from 18 other countries.
