esearch and Technology and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir said that he would soon publish the names of universities that were alleged to have issued fake diplomas.
He said that he had set up a special team to investigate the case and would carry out impromptu visits to the suspected universities in the near future.
'We are currently investigating a report that some universities issued fake diplomas to their students,' Nasir told the press at the ministry's office on Tuesday.
He said that dozens of universities in Greater Jakarta were alleged to have sold fake diplomas for financial gain.
Regional Representatives Council chairman Irman Gusman called on the government and police to be tough on universities selling fake diplomas. (+++)
