wo hundred sex workers in Jambi city in red-light districts and those operating in massage parlors and karaoke halls will receive assistance of Rp 5 million (US$380) each from the Social Affairs Ministry, an official said on Thursday.

'€œWe have proposed 334 people, but only 200 people will be given aid this year,'€ Sahabat Safe House head Yuli said

According to Yuli, of the 200 sex workers, 53 of them came from Pulosigadung brothel complex and four from the Langit Biru complex.

Besides the money, she said the sex workers would also undergo training and counseling as soon as they received the money, which they would spend under the supervision of Sahabat.
