resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has discussed the reasons behind his cabinet reshuffle in a speech during Friday's plenary session at the Senayan legislative complex in South Jakarta.
He said that Indonesia is still facing many issues, such as instability in food prices, continuing social inequality and corruption in law enforcement and elsewhere, that are yet to be solved.
Jokowi added that the government is working hard to combat these issues and, that to improve conditions, he decided to reshuffle Kabinet Kerja (the Working Cabinet).
"The reshuffle that I recently announced was essentially to improve the government's performance so that we can succeed in accelerating our national development," said Jokowi as quoted by kompas.com.
The President added that his reshuffle of Kabinet Kerja was one of the best "bridges" toward fulfilling the government's promise to the people to improve their welfare and quality of life.
"The reshuffle is a part of realizing of my commitment to the people," said Jokowi. (kes)
