ede Supratman has salvaged Indonesia'€™s pride by managing to break into a top three place in the fourth round of the World Paragliding Accuracy Championships (WPAC) in Puncak, West Java, on Friday.

He scored 0 points in the men'€™s category. This means that the man who used to assist with packing and unpacking parachutes landed exactly at the dead center of the pad, according to a release.

After four rounds, Matjaz Sluga of Slovenia topped the standings with 9 points followed by Tomas Lednik of the Czech Republic and Anton Svoljsak of Slovenia with 10 points each.

Dede was in a distant third place with 18 points among some 100 participants from 19 countries, followed by David Strak of Hungary with 31 points and Goran Djurkovic of Serbia with 35.

In the team category, Indonesia moved up to third. Its ranking could have been higher if Thomas Widyananto had not been disqualified in the third round. He conceded 1,000 points after he touched the ground when landing.

In the women'€™s category, Rina Kusumaningrum'€™s success wresting fifth place allowed the Indonesian team to move up to third place.

Nunnapat Phuchong of Thailand topped the standings with 142 points, followed by Jolanta Romanenko of Lithuania with 339, Chantika Chaisanuk of Thailand with 406, Chennan Li of China with 514 and Rina of Indonesia with 593. The weeklong event will run until Sunday. '€” JP
