enpasar: Bali Governor I Made Mangku Pastika presented Dharma Kusuma cultural awards to nine Balinese artists during the celebration of the 57th anniversary of the province on Friday at Puputan Margarana field in Denpasar.
The awards were given to the nine artists from the province's nine regencies and city: writer I Gusti Agung Wiyat, puppeteer I Made Persib, traditional musician I Wayan Cenik Wijana, writer I Gusti Puty Bawa, late musician Wayan Rundu, egg carving artisan I Nengah Pendet, writer-cum-dancer-cum puppeteer I Nyoman Usana, late dancer Ketut Merdana and late writer Ida Pedanda Gede Sigaran (alm).
'The awards are given as [recognition of their] achievements from the government to those who have preserve and develop Balinese culture,' Bali Cultural Agency head Dewa Putu Beratha said.
