he Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) is set to start an alert system for online piracy in January 2016.
'Currently, the system is not yet complete, it's only around 10 percent ready. We also need to collaborate with Internet service providers and invite copyright holders to register to the system,' said Creative Economy Agency head Triawan Munaf on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The system, which was created in cooperation with state-owned telecommunications firm PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), will be installed on various websites, which feature pirated music and movie content.
Whenever users try to download illegal content, they will receive a notification, which includes information on the law they will be violating and the sanction they will be facing, as well as links to other websites, which provide downloadable legal content.
Triawan said that the price of the legal content would be adapted to Indonesians' average income.
Bekraf is also set to eradicate online piracy by establishing a special task force (satgas) to handle complaints from copyright holders on all types of piracy, including offline.
The agency currently has an operational budget of Rp 100 billion (US$7 million) to spend in 2015, but it will have a bigger budget next year, around Rp 1.1 trillion, to run progressive programs.
