The National Police Criminal Investigation Corps (Bareskrim Polri) have handed over suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leader Bambang Widjojanto to the Central Jakarta Prosecutors along with the dossier of evidence and other documents related to his case on Friday.
Lawyer Lelyana Santosa said that Bambang had not been detained. He had only complied with a summons from Polri and the prosecutors as part of the second phase submission of the case dossier.
"There was no signing of the dossier. [Bareskrim] was only checking his health," said Lelyana as quoted by tempo.co on Friday.
Bambang, who wore a white baju koko (long-sleeved collarless shirt) and black pants, looked relaxed.
"Whatever the risks, I'm ready," he said.
At the same time as Bambang was being handed over, the South Sulawesi Police submitted another suspended KPK leader, Abraham Samad, to South Sulawesi Prosecutors along with his case dossier.
National Police chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti said previously that Bambang and Abraham's dossiers were supposed to be immediately handed over to the prosecutors since they were considered complete.
"If [the dossiers] are not immediately submitted, they will go nowhere," said Badrodin.
He added that the dossiers' second phase submission were meant to give a legal certainty to Bambang and Abraham.
Bambang was named a suspect for allegedly directing a witness to give false testimony at the Constitutional Court during the hearing of a West Kotawaringin election dispute in July 2010.
The Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Bambang's colleague Zulfahmi Arsyad to seven months in jail for his role in aiding Bambang in 2010, who was then a lawyer working on an election dispute case before the Constitutional Court, by recruiting witnesses willing to give false testimonies in court.
