AKARTA: The National Police'€™s Narcotics Directorate recently arrested three people, one of whom was a Nigerian, for operating an international drug ring in Jakarta. The police seized 15.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in the arrest.

Narcotics Directorate head Brig. Gen. Anjan Pramuka Putra said Friday that the drug ring was controlled from China, adding that the arrest was made following an intensive three-month investigation.

'€œSome people gave us a tip-off about the drug ring and we spent three months compiling an investigation before arresting them,'€ Anjan said as quoted by tempo.co.

According to Anjan, the three suspects were apprehended at three different locations. Siti Aisah was arrested at a warehouse in Pluit, North Jakarta, William Alroy Lested, a Nigerian, was arrested in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, on Aug. 10, while Andina Dwi Anggraeni was taken into custody at the Puri Apartment complex in Puri Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Sept. 11.

The three will face multiple charges under Article 114, paragraph 2 of Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics.
