Dede Harlan, a 70-year-old resident of Banjar city in West Java, bitterly said that he lost two children and two daughters-in-law in Thursday's stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia.
According to Dede, he lost both of his sons, Didik M. Tasdik and Atang Gumawang. In addition, his sons' wives were also lost in the tragedy, Ira Kusmira and Ima Rismawati.
These four names are not on the list of the 14 Indonesians announced deceased by the Religious Affairs Ministry.
'Seven of my children are in Mecca and I have got confirmation from my surviving son that two of my children and two of my daughters-in-law have passed away. My son saw the bodies of his relatives,' said Dede was quoted by tempo.co on Saturday.
Based on information from Irfan Firdaus, one of the surviving sons in Mecca, Dede said that the bodies of his four relatives were still lying together with victims from other countries. 'I am sincerely [sad about losing them]. It was His will. Wherever they are buried, I don't mind,' said Dede
Meanwhile, Banjar Religious Affairs Agency head Dadang Romansyah also confirmed that five haj pilgrims from the city were among those who died in the Mina tragedy.
Previously, 14 Indonesian haj pilgrims reportedly died in Thursday's stampede following the latest identification announcement on Saturday. The Indonesian government said that 225 other Indonesians had yet to return to their tents in Mina, Saudi Arabia, since the incident occurred. (bbn) (++++)
