n electric train (KRL) en route from Bekasi, West Java, to Kota Station in West Jakarta derailed shortly before Manggarai Station in South Jakarta on Tuesday morning.
Rail operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek's spokeswoman, Eva Chairunisa, said no passengers had died or been injured in the incident, but most had fled the train in fright after it came to a halt.
'No [passengers] died or were injured in the accident. We immediately transferred them to another train,' Eva said on Tuesday as quoted by Kompas.com.
Despite PT KAI's immediate action, she went on, the incident had slightly delayed services on the line, leading to long queues at several stations.
The derailed train was towed by a locomotive to be fixed at Bukit Duri workshop in South Jakarta, according to Eva.
'Naturally, the incident affected the service on our Bekasi-Jakarta Kota line,' she said, adding that the company had diverted several trains plying the line through Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta.
The company, she added, would carry out an investigation to ascertain the cause of the derailment.
