An official has said commuters traveling from Jatinegara, East Jakarta, to Bogor and vice versa are facing delays following a collision between a commuter line train and a Metromini bus at a railway crossing near Angke train station in Tambora, West Jakarta, on Sunday.

City-owned train operator KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) communications manager Eva Chairunisa said KCJ was facing difficulties removing the train car involved in the crash as the body of the Metromini bus was still trapped underneath it.

'€œWe cannot yet pull the train and remove it from the track as the bus is still trapped under it,'€ Eva said as quoted by kompas.com in Jakarta on Sunday.

She said that as the train car had not yet been removed, the railway track could not be used, which had hampered commuter trains serving Jatinegara-Bogor.

'€œWe can remove the train from the track only after we can pull out the bus,'€ said Eva.

As reported earlier, 13 people died in the collision on Sunday morning. Eva said the crash occurred as the train was about to enter Angke station.

'€œThe Metromini bus was stuck on the railway crossing as the commuter was approaching,'€ said Eva. As the train was moving at high speed, the crash could not be avoided, she added. The bus was pushed along the tracks until it reached a platform at Angke station.

Eva said she had not yet received information about the number of victims on the bus. However, she confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries among the train passengers in the incident.

'€œAll commuter passengers survived the incident,'€ she said. (ebf)
